Too often, because of our nation’s entrenched history of housing discrimination and residential segregation, people of color are less likely to live in places that provide the optimal conditions to lead a healthy life. The Fair Housing Act provides an important tool that can be used by health practitioners to dismantle these patterns: the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) mandate.
