Darlene Norwood English

Associate Vice President of Education and Outreach

Darlene Norwood English is the Associate Vice President of Education and Outreach at NFHA. In this role, Ms. English works with all NFHA divisions to promote awareness of fair housing rights by the public and fair housing responsibilities by the housing, lending, and insurance industry. She also helps ensure fair housing professionals are well-trained and developed, and helps coordinate national public service advertising campaigns, national and regional conferences and in-service programs, NFHA’s Fair Housing School® training program for fair housing professionals, webinars, and other events to improve knowledge about fair housing and enforcement of fair housing laws.

Previously, Ms. English served as Deputy Chief Housing Court Specialist with the Cleveland Municipal Housing Court in Cleveland, Ohio. As Deputy Chief, Ms. English supervised the Housing Court Specialist department, assisted residents with understanding their rights and obligations regarding Ohio’s Landlord Tenant Law and Fair Housing Laws, and provided social service referrals to individuals involved in civil housing proceedings. Prior to Cleveland Housing Court, Ms. English developed as a fair housing professional for over decade with the Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research in Cleveland, Ohio. She is both a board member of the National ACLU and ACLU of Ohio, serving as its National Board Affiliate Representative. Ms. English earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Cleveland State University.
