NFHA and Massachusetts Fair Housing Center v. U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development

A U.S. District Judge for the District of Massachusetts granted NFHA and its co-plaintiffs’ request for a temporary restraining order challenging HUD’s FY2025 FHIP funding notices. The court vacated the FY2025 notices and ordered HUD to use its FY2024 funding structure to allocate FY2025 FHIP funds, finding that HUD had failed to adequately explain significant changes to the program and had not properly considered the reliance interests of fair housing organizations and the communities they serve.
