At the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA), we believe that cultivating the next generation of civil rights leaders is essential to building a more just and equitable society. Our internship program offers undergraduate and law students the opportunity to actively participate in the fight against housing discrimination and systemic inequality.
Interns at NFHA are not passive observers—they are integral members of our team. They contribute to work that addresses some of the most urgent civil rights challenges of our time, including algorithmic bias in housing and lending, segregation, environmental injustice, and discriminatory zoning practices. Through direct engagement with NFHA’s legal, policy, communications, tech, and programmatic staff, interns gain real-world experience at the intersection of civil rights advocacy, technology, and public policy.
Interns will have the opportunity to:
- Support litigation and legal research advancing fair housing protections
- Assist with cutting-edge research on digital discrimination and AI bias
- Participate in public education and outreach efforts to promote housing equity
- Contribute to federal and local policy advocacy efforts
- Attend briefings, workshops, and coalition meetings with civil rights and industry leaders
Our internship program is designed to be both substantive and empowering. We are committed to ensuring that every intern is given the tools, mentorship, and opportunities needed to grow as a professional and as a changemaker.
NFHA offers paid, twelve-week internships during the summer. If you’re passionate about civil rights, eager to make an impact, and ready to work alongside a dynamic team of advocates, researchers, and legal experts, we encourage you to apply.
Together, we can transform systems, challenge injustice, and build inclusive communities—one internship at a time.
