Homeownership remains a cornerstone of financial security and intergenerational wealth in the United States. Yet, for many Black, Latino, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Native1 individuals and families, this pathway has been obstructed by a legacy of discriminatory policies, practices, and systems that continue to shape—and in some cases restrict—access to credit, housing, and economic opportunity. These systemic barriers have created and sustained stark racial disparities in homeownership and wealth.
