CREATING SUCCESSFUL SOLUTIONS TO FIGHT INEQUALITY
NFHA will host its biennial In-Service training program for fair housing organizations from throughout the nation on October 4-7, 2019. Approximately 200 community leaders will attend. Your support will enable us to offer state-of-the-art, cutting-edge training and development opportunities to the organizations and professionals working on the ground to provide direct services to consumers and support to underserved communities.
Part of NFHA’s strength is collaborating with our members and partners to develop research, data, and workable solutions that can be implemented at the local level to help correct and address the damage caused by centuries-long discriminatory practices. We also develop solutions to mitigate against all forms of housing and lending inequality that drive today’s health disparities, as well as gaps in racial wealth, homeownership, credit access, and educational attainment.
One major way we impart learnings and teach our members about how to effectively implement solutions is through our training and educational programs. This fall’s four-day training experience will focus on capacity-building, nonprofit organizational and financial management, community and neighborhood stabilization, expanding access to quality credit, leadership development, consumer support, and fair housing and fair lending legal updates. The training will provide community-based organizations with the tools they need to expand equal housing opportunity at the local level and to implement proven strategies that foster inclusive communities and make every neighborhood a place of opportunity. One special feature we will offer is a coaching program on professional leadership and development, provided by experts from Georgetown University.
