There has been a troubling surge in hate incidents across the country in recent months and a vast number of these occur at private homes. As fair housing advocates, it is imperative that we utilize the Fair Housing Act as a tool to protect our communities against hate incidents and harassment. In order to do this more effectively, NFHA recently partnered with 17 other national partners and dozens of local partners under the Communities Against Hate initiative. This initiative brings together a diverse coalition of civil rights groups coming together for the first time across communities to both document hate and assemble resources to combat hate incidents across the country. Organizations and individuals can access resources at www.CommunitiesAgainstHate.org or by calling 1-844-9-NO-HATE.
This webinar will provide participants with information about housing-related hate and how is it covered under the federal Fair Housing Act. It will also highlight the key strategies to combat hate and harassment using fair housing laws. Speakers will then provide participants with information about the Communities Against Hate initiative and the resources that are available to you and your community through this network as you work to combat hate in your local area.
